The next target on my list says that she’s interested in, among other things, mainstream fiction, history and film. She’s a past president of the New York Women in Film and Television, and although I couldn’t see any ‘historical fiction’ listed among her best known and most recent projects, she’s shepherded a number of quality books of fiction. So I thought the combo of these three interests might prove to be the key that turns the lock that opens the door marked ‘Your Project Intrigues Me.’
Actually most of her recent novels have been mysteries which doesn’t sound like a good match for someone like me. But, keeping in mind my lesson from Agent #4, I think it’s best not to assume that mysteries are all she wants to sell. Maybe they happen to be the ones she’s sold to publishers. Maybe these particular authors have all hit their stride around the same time. But maybe – just maybe – she’s aching for a change of pace. I can but ask.
